How is Meals on Wheels funded?
The meals are paid for entirely through private charitable contributions. Recipients of the service or their families donate what they can afford toward the cost of the meals, which is about $3.00 per meal. Meals on Wheels raises funds to subsidize what is not covered by recipient contributions through gifts from churches, community groups, businesses, foundations, and concerned individuals. Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa relies solely upon private contributions. We do not receive funding from the government or from the United Way.

*On-line Donors Please Note: We use the nonprofit service, GiveDirect and Independent Charities of America, to secure and process our on-line credit card transactions. “GiveDirect" is the name that will appear on your credit card statement - not “Meals on Wheels.”  They securely process and transfer the funds to us.  Meals on Wheels will, however, mail you an acknowledgement for your gift, and all donations are tax deductible according to IRS regulations.  See the Privacy Policy at the bottom of this page.

Endowment Trust Fund Is Great For Memorial and Legacy Gifts

Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa has an Endowment Trust Fund, which is a great way for donors to make lasting and perpetual impact upon the organization.  Memorial gifts, legacy gifts, and planned gifts to the fund can be ideal ways for donors to make a continuing difference.  In a sense, they are gifts that keep giving FOREVER!

Donations are conservatively invested using a professional investment strategy.  The Trust Fund makes an annual distribution from the earned income while the principal stays in tack. The annual distribution is used to meet program needs, while the principal of the fund grows and enables a steady and dependable source of funding.

This allows your gifts to continue well beyond your lifetime. With a financial or estate legacy gift to the Endowment through your will, trust, or other planned gift, you can perpetuate the values and ideals that are important to you, and also help to ensure the financial future of Meals on Wheels.

Planned gifts can help you integrate your family, financial, and charitable goals.  They can be made with cash, donated assets such as stocks, real estate, art pieces, business interests, or other kinds of property.  Planned gifts can provide valuable tax benefits and/or lifetime income for you and your spouse or other loved ones.  Wills, charitable trusts, and charitable gift annuities are some of the most popular planned gift instruments.

Perhaps you have already included Meals on Wheels in your will, trust or other planned gift.  If you have, please let us know so we can sign you up as a Charter Member of our new Legacy Society.  Members will have the satisfaction of knowing they are endowing the mission of Meals on Wheels and ensuring the future strength of this fine organization.  Members will be recognized and honored annually at a special event.  You can, of course, remain anonymous if you wish.

Want to learn more about making a planned gift?  We can tell you how to find some help with developing a legacy plan. Please contact Dan Rabovsky at 918- 627-4103, or email us at info@mealsonwheelstulsa.org.   All inquiries will be held confidential.

Privacy Policy Notice to Contributors:

Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. We do not sell our mailing list. We shall safeguard the personal information about the individuals and groups who make donations to us.  Personal information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, donation amounts, and credit card or check information.

  1. We do not share the personal information of our donors with any entity outside of Meals on Wheels for purposes unrelated to our program, except the financial institutions involved in completing the donation transaction.
  2. Donor information is handled in the following ways:
    1. There are occasions when it is desirable to give public recognition to donors who have made a high level contribution to sponsor a specific special event, project or cause. When Meals on Wheels chooses to publicly acknowledge such donations (such as listing sponsors on a printed program or in a news article), the donor(s) will have the option of remaining anonymous.
    2. There are occasions when we hire companies to prepare our mailings, including printing labels from our donor database. In such cases, those companies will only receive the information they need to provide those services (names and addresses), and they will not be allowed to retain our mailing list information for any other purpose.
    3. We maintain both computerized and paper copies of donor records.  We protect the privacy of donors by limiting accessibility to those records.  Individual donors may request a copy of their own records for purposes of review and correction.
    4. When donors use credit cards, we collect standard credit card information (card number, type, expiration date) for the purpose of making the transaction with the appropriate financial institution. Only those authorized by Meals on Wheels to process the transaction will be allowed access to those numbers.  Credit card numbers are held only until the charge is processed, or until a transaction problem is resolved, after which time the record of the credit card number is destroyed.
    5. We do not collect any personal information from viewers of our website except from those who complete the form to make on-line donations to us. The website currently provides the capability for viewers to make on-line donations through a secure website link to GiveDirect, using our association with Local Independent Charities of America. The process shall include the following:

      i.       GiveDirect notifies MOWMT of each gift, and they process the transactions for MOWMT; they make a monthly transfer of funds to MOWMT.

ii.      MOWMT confirms the on-line gifts to the donor by email, records the gift on the donor’s file, and then a hard copy receipt and thank you letter is mailed to the donor.
