Meals on Wheels Tulsa Breaks Ground on New Facility

This past week, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the Meals on Wheels Hardesty Service Center near 51st and Yale alongside the Meals on Wheels Family of volunteers, staff, and community leaders from Bixby, BA, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Owasso, Jenks, Catoosa, Collinsville, Tulsa and places in between. As we mark 50 years of continuous service in Northeastern Oklahoma I reflect upon all of the good people who came before us to build and sustain this organization one act of kindness at a time.

The new facility will house a large commercial kitchen, program space for our Home Safety, Pets Assisting Wellness in Seniors (P.A.W.S) program and Feed our Future program serving high school students.

This facility will allow us to grow in order to meet the ever-increasing needs in our community.

Special thanks to the Hardesty Family Foundation, The Anne and Henry Zarrow Family Foundation, Ruth Nelson, The Helmerich Family Trust, ONEOK, ONEGAS, Devon Energy, the Mabee Foundation, GKFF, Helmerich and Payne, the Sunderland Foundation, Bank of Oklahoma, The Richison Family Foundation, A.R. & Mary LouiseTandy Foundation, J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation, Coretz Family Foundation, Tulsa Area United Way, Williams Corporation, PSO, Cox Communications, Spirit AeroSystems, and many more for their financial commitment to this rich legacy of service.

Also, a special thank you to Michelle Hardesty, Bill Major, Senator Kevin Matthews, Cara Hair, Betsy Jackson, Sara Hansel, Becky Robins, and the rest of the speakers, attendees, and everyone who played a part in this historic day.

Thank you

Calvin A. Moore
